What color are the leaves?
Why do they change slower than she?
What color is my hair?
Why does it change slower than the bear?
Yamamba as a bear
is circling me
I live in a small house
on the side of a mountain
with three sides of windows
and Yamamba
in the form of a bear
is circling me
From my left eye
she’s thick as a boulder marvelous, bulging
& from my right eye
she’s thin as a tree hungry, hungry
staring in at me
& when I can’t see her
she’s sleeping
A year in the span of minutes
Is this what it is to feel time as a tree?
Or a rock or a river?
Yamamba grows and shrinks
before my window eyes
What color are the leaves?
Why do they change slower than she?
What color is my hair?
Why does it change slower than the bear?

"I think the album 'Not Great' is a great story of everyday life with both laughter and tears. It’s happy, sad, uplifting and deep. A pleasure to listen." (Mario Reijnen ~ Vital Weekly: http://www.vitalweekly.net/1312.html)

“With Julius, he was based in repetition, but here was a spirit of openness and improvisation. His scores, if they were written out that way, were often like jazz scores. He loved multiplying instruments – four pianos, ten cellos – so there was a real feeling of the presence of the instrument, not just using an instrument in some kind of equation, as a means to an end.” ~ Mary Jane Leach
